Women Cell
The WOMEN CELL of Lakhipur College was formed on 8th February 2000 to monitor and address Gender Issues related problems at Lakhipur College under the convenor-ship of Dr. Meera Devi.
The Cell has both the faculty and students of the College as its members and works with an aim to create a gender sensitized community within campus as well as in the society. It has been organized Varied events for the upliftment of women and spread the real importance of gender equality in the Society through College students.
Objectives:
• Helping female students live a balanced life where they neither lurk into depression nor take the abode of aggression.
• To stress upon the development of women in every sphere.
• To organize events and activities for women empowerment.
• To create an environment that will help women realize their full potential and give their best.
• Living in a patriarch society with deep rooted and socio-cultural value of male superiority.
• The objective of the Cell is to help build an egalitarian society.
• To promote intellectual and cultural activities for overall personality development of the students.
• To enable Women to make informed choices areas like education, employment and health especially reproductive health.
• To enhance their participation on an equal footing in all areas.
Women Empowerment and Gender Equality are the most important requirements for the upliftment and progress of our nation.

1. Celebration of International women’s Day on 08/03 /2018
The Women Cell of Lakhipur College has celebrated International Women’s day in Lakhipur College.
2. Workshop on Students Volontiers. 24/04/2018
Workshop program was organized by the Women Cell in collaboeration with IQAC, Lakhipur College.
3. Celebration of International women’s Day on 08/03 /2021
The Women Cell Lakhipur College in collaboration with IQAC, Lakhipur College has organized International Women’s Day. Pranita Das, Chairman of Municipal Board, Lakhipur, was invited as Resource person on this day. She has delivered a lecture on “Women in leadership”. The teaching staff, all the non-teaching staff and student has actively participated. It was a great success on the part of the Institution.
4. Special talk on Human Trafficking on 18/01/2022
Special Talk on Human Trafficking program was organized by the WOMEN CELL in collaboration with the department of Assamese and department of History, Lakhipur College on 18th Jan, 2022 in Library building. The Resource person was Dr. Rupali Rongpipi, Assistant Professor, Dept of History, Lakhipur College. The teachers staff and students have actively participated.
5. Celebration of International women’s Day on 08/03 /2022
The Women Cell of Lakhipur College has organized International Women’s Day at Lakhipur College. Dr. Meera Devi, retired associate professor of Lakhipur college and engaged with NIKHIL BHARAT GONOTANTRIK MOHILA SAMITI was invited as resource person to deliver a speech on women development. On this day an online INTER DISTRICT POEM COMPETITION was organized to celebrated this day.
6. Special talk on BISYAYANR PROBHABOT BIHU on 11/04/2022
Special talk on “Bisyayanr probhabot Bihu” on 11/04/2022. The Resource person was Abdul Zabbar, Associate Professor, Dept of English, B.P.C College, Nagarbera.
7. Awareness Program on Menstrual Hygiene, on 06-07- 2022
Lakhipur College women cell in collaboration with IQAC, Lakhipur College has organized a Menstrual Hygiene Camp on 6th , July, 2022 at 11. 30 a.m. The program was organized at Baida college. Our teacher distributed pads among the girl students of the college.
8. Awareness program on College CYBER CRIME AGAINST WOMEN on 08/03/2023
An online awareness program was organized by the the Women Cell of Lakhipur College in collaboration with IQAC Lakhipur on College CYBER CRIME AGINST WOMEN on 08/03/2023. Dr. Shyamal Saikia Former DIG was invited as Resource person to make aware about cyber-crime. The women cell Lakhipur College has organized online essay competition in Colleboration with Women Cell, Goalpara Zone.
9. Mehendi Art Competition on 16/03/2023
Mehendi Competition was organized by the Women Cell in Collaboration with the department of IQAC Lakhipur College.
10. Best Out of Waste Competition on 23/03/2023
Women Cell of Lakhipur College in collaboration with department of Assamese and Eco club organized “Best Out of Waste” competition in Lakhipur College on 23/03/2023.
11. Awareness Program on ‘’Beyond Gender Binary” on 24/05/2023
Awareness Program on ‘’Beyond Gender Binary” was organised by Women Cell, Lakhipur College and IQAC, Lakhipur College in collaboration with Women Cell, Bikali College and IQAC Bikali College on 24/05/2023.This is an outreach program. Venue: Bikali College.
12. Workshop on Diha Naam
The Women Cell of Lakhipur College in collaboration with the department of Assamese and IQAC Lakhipur College has organized 10 day’s workshop on DIHA NAAM from 6th June to 16th June. This program was successfully conducted by the organizers. Total 36 students have participated on this workshop. Certificate given to all participants.
13. Awareness Program on ‘Preventing Abuse on Girl” on 10/06/2023
Awareness Program on ‘Preventing Abuse on Girl” was organised by ICC Cell, Women Cell of Lakhipur College in collaboration with IQAC Lakhipur college on 10/06/2023.This is an outreach program at KGVV Girls Hostel, Lakhipur.
14. Outreach Program on Peddy Cultivation
Women Cell and Assamese Department of Lakhipr College has organized an Outreach Program on Peddy Cultivation at Soto Sigri, adopted village of Lakhipur College on 12th August 2023.
15. Bihu Workshop
The Women Cell of Lakhipur College in collaboration with the department of Assamese and IQAC Lakhipur College has organized 10 day’s workshop on Bihu Dance from 23rd December to 2nd January . This program was successfully conducted by the organizers. Total 23 students have participated on this workshop. Certificate given to all participants.
16. Women Cell of Lakhipur College in collaboration with Women Cell, ACTA Goalpara Zone, has Published a book titled “WOMEN EDUCATION AND SOCIETY” in the year 2023.
17. The birthday of Dr. Upen Rabha Hakasam, senior professor of Assamese, Gauhati University, was observed as the day of Simplcity (Saralatar Din) on 2nd January 2024 under the auspices of Dogo Rangsang Research Committee, Gauhati University in collaboration with Assamese Department, Women Cell and IQAC, Lakhipur College at Lakhipur College, Goalpara.. On that, occasion a popular speaker Dilip Kumar Sarma , journalist and literary pensioner was invited to deliver a speech on the topic “Heritage and culture of Goalpara district”. The open meeting held on the occasion was presided over by Dr. Lalit Chandra Rabha, president Dogo Rangsang Research Committee. Welcoming the participants, Dr. Kashyap Biswas, Principal Lakhipur College thanked the Committee for organizing the event in the College.
